Innovative Professional Development Products & ServicesQuestioning and combining furtive minds in a gifted age, vTapestry is a partnership between Christine Maxwell and Rebekah Nix. Our vision is to support educational professionals in meeting the diverse challenges presented by a global community. Our mission is to create and deliver high-quality professional development tools and resources to improve learner success.

Upon this age...

vTapestry was realized in June 2012 after an inspiring exchange that recalled a sonnet from Huntsman, What Quarry? by Edna St Vincent Millay.

Upon this age, that never speaks its mind,
This furtive age, this age endowed with power
To wake the moon with footsteps, fit an oar
Into the rowlocks of the wind, and find
What swims before his prow, what swirls behind —

Upon this gifted age, in its dark hour,
Rains from the sky a meteoric shower
Of facts... they lie unquestioned, uncombined.

Wisdom enough to leech us of our ill
Is daily spun; but there exists no loom

To weave it into fabric.

About our 'work'

Committed to fostering a proactive learning environment – formal or informal – for each and every student – young and old – we conceived vTapestry with an holistic view. As independent thinkers and interested observers, we have been able to identify the ‘gaps’ in teacher preparation/ professional development based on our own experience and with the benefit of timely expertise. As vTapestry, we are able to build the necessary ‘bridges’ that can support meaningful learning and critically-relevant communications across traditional academic silos through new applications of available technologies.

vTapestry Strengths
The key ‘value-add’ of our partnership is epitomized in our complementary strengths for cultivating cross-disciplinary collaboration. The breadth and depth of our combined background is reflected in how we invest our efforts in the overall project plan. Our intention is to provide a high-quality resource that is both supported and sustainable. Once a module is launched (released and rolled-out), it could (and should) take on an online life of its own; our role then becomes that of ‘virtual gardener’ in that we will continue to monitor use of and maintain the ‘organic’ ecosystem that is the innovative outcome of the vTapestry collaboration.
vTapestry multiplies its advantages with on-going updates and forward-looking trends through tacit and explicit knowledge gathering conversations with leaders in technology-enhanced solutions for education. Engaging ALL stakeholders in the project – from the very beginning – is critical. vTapestry orchestrates effective development and efficient production by drawing the right elements from the right contributors in the right ways at the right times. Careful attention to the needs and limitations of each team member and independent entity ensures all necessary elements will be in place and that all participants are fully prepared when learners enter.
Rebekah and Christine’s combined expertise and experience in education and technology lend a unique capacity for realizing the potential of innovative ideas that lead to real-world solutions.
